Felipe Mejia Funeral and Memorial Fund

Felipe Mejia is a 53yr old loving father of six. He has been a hard-working and caring man his entire life. He has never had any enemies and was/is a friend to all. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need and welcomed all into his home. He is quite possibly one of the best human beings anyone will ever know.  On November 1, 2018, he was coming home from work and felt that something was off. He was suffering from memory loss and felt like he couldn't keep his balance. He was taken to the hospital where he was initially evaluated for a stroke. The doctors were unable to find any clots in the testing, so they guessed that it was a series of ministrokes and sent him home.  Days after returning home, things began to take a turn for the worse. He was taken back to KU Hospital on November 12th. After a series of tests done by the neurology team at KU, they were able to determine that he had Creutzfelt-Jakob Disease (CJD). CJD is a rare but always fatal disease. He was given 3 months to live.  The purpose of this campaign is to benefit his surviving spouse and minor children. He will be leaving behind his wife of 18 years, Aurora, who has been a stay at home wife and mother the entire duration of their marriage. He will also be leaving behind his 6 children, including 2 minor children: Sebastian, 14, and Abigail, 12.  We ask for your donations so that the family can have the financial means for an impending funeral, and to be able to adjust to this sudden and horrible tragedy.
