We are Hawker Street Market, a group of young fiery Asian American Women running cross-cultural food festivals throughout Arizona.
OUR MISSION is to share culture and promote diversity through food.
Pre-COVID, we were launching festivals and pop-up events throughout the valley, including PHX Night Market, Izakaya Night, and Foodie Bowl. Supporting our local street vendors (hawkers) while promoting diversity through food in our communities.
Due to the national outbreak, we have postponed all our events. Many of our vendors, our closest friends, rely solely on events and festivals for income. Many were also working towards a brick and mortar through the events and pop-ups we hosted.
Without a place to distribute, our friends are not even able to do deliveries or take-out services like most restaurants.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO NOW?
We are going to help our friends and heroes in need.
To support our community, we are launching #feedphxheroes. We support our vendors by purchasing food and drinks from their businesses in festival volumes to provide quality meals to feed our first responders.
100% is volunteer run and 100% of donations is going towards supporting our local vendors so they can provide for their staff and families, while we provide food for our heroes at the frontlines. We are supporting the 30+ food vendors, who originally planned to sell at our events and distributing to clinics and hospital staff in the Phoenix, who are being hit the hardest.
We are prioritizing to serve facilities serving high volumes and low-income communities, focusing on feeding staff in the ER.
HOW WE ARE TAKING ACTION!
We are feeding our first shift of heroes this week. We are delivering 40 baos to feed a shift of ER staff at the Valleywise Healthcare Community in Maryvale this Thursday, April 9th with the help of our friends at Our Thai Vegan Delights.
This is the first step in our journey. Help us #feedphxheroes by donating to our GoFundMe.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 to send 10,000 meals to our heroes.
Every meal counts and so does every word of mouth, help us share #feedphxheroes campaign with friends and family.
