Feeding UW Hospital Staff

Donation protected
Over the past week, as we've thought about how best to take care of workers in our industry (restaurants), our minds also turned to who else could use our help right now. How could we share a resource -- The London Plane kitchen -- with those who are working on the front lines to contain this pandemic and treat the sick?

Starting Wednesday 3/18 we will be sending 1,600 meals per day to UW hospital staff for at least a week.

Our estimate is that this will cost us $10,000 per day. (gulp)  We have raised enough seed capital to get started, but any additional money helps.

The money goes 100% to pay our cost of goods and labor. We have assembled an incredible group of chefs and servers from the industry who have been working almost nonstop to make this happen since we first had this idea on Monday 3/16,

ANY SIZE CONTRIBUTION HELPS!  Our all-in cost per meal is $6.25.  So $6.25 funds one meal (including labor, delivery, etc), $62.50 funds 10, $625 funds 100... and so on.

The funds will be used to pay for the cost of producing the meals, which consists of the cost of the labor to cook, package and deliver the meals, as well as the cost of the ingredients for the meals, and the packaging containers for them.  All vendors and employees will be paid directly by The London Plane. If we raise money in excess of what it costs to produce these meals for eight days, we will roll into a phase two of the program, to be planned in coordination with the hospitals.

P.S. We have not yet sorted out how to make this a tax-deductible charitable donation, so you can't count on that, but we will try.
