I was told there was a huge need, and they referred me to The People Concern in downtown L.A., with whom they are affiliated. I then spoke with Nadine Hanley there, and she told me that during the holidays they often end up having to give to any vegan or vegetarian clients a PB&J sandwich, rather than turkey. I found that to be sad. So I asked Nadine about starting this Go Fund Me page and she was thrilled, to say the least. So, here we are!
Every penny raised through this effort (other than the % that Go Fund Me takes out) will go directly toward providing vegan food for The People Concern. To learn more about them and their mission to support our homeless community, you can find their website at thepeopleconcern.org. I will be posting updates periodically as we go along. Obviously, the holidays are already upon us, so we are hoping to get donations as soon as possible, in the next few days.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns about this effort, please feel free to reach out to me via Go Fund Me and I will answer your questions, or put you in touch with Nadine @ The People Concern. I was going to post both of our email addresses here, but the folks @ Go Fund Me discourage that, and say they can put you in touch with me.
Thank you very much for your interest and generosity in this trying time.
