Feeding Feasible Feasts to our neighbors

So much to say and fill you all on on. It's not my strong suit but I will TRY to be brief.

First, we have joined into partnership with several new agencies that we are supplying quantities of food. We are glad to work with local agencies like Headstart/ECEAP programs,  Fife Food Bank,  Helping Hands, Fife School District, Milton Methodist Church,  Mt. View Lutheran Church, FMS Global Strategies, Food is Free Puyallup Group,  Food id Free Edgewood/Milton, Sustainable Renton and others.

The families that benefit from from these food programs represent not just the neediest families (ECEAP families represent our bottom 1% income earners), but also families heavily impacted by Covid 19. In addition, we utilize our labor pool to assure food that goes out is also culturally sensitive. We are able to service halal, kosher and vegan dietary restrictions. 

We are in full swing applying for grants to pay for warehousing, a forklift, a box truck and some help with refrigerated storage.  But many of these are not going to be awarded fast enough.  

We need your help!!

The frustrating news starts with the USDA throwing a few low blows. It ends with a shake up in how food is distributed and who gets it.  We are trying to roll with the punches. In accordance with our new guidelines we are accepting large semi trucks of food boxes. These new boxes weigh 35 pounds each. This makes it difficult for seniors, people struggling with homelessness and ambulatory people to receive these boxes and get them to their home location.  We put the work in to help these populations get nutritious food in a box that can be easily carried. 

We have a local school that has agreed to allow us to use their parking lot to accept the delivery this week. We are renting a forklift to unload and load our partner distributors.  While this situation is working for now. Winter is coming and it will be important to move this operation indoors to a warehouse.
