We are going to be setting up a street soup kitchen 1 weekday (to start with) in Spalding town centre offering extensive chef experience and offering a bowl of soup and/or a hot meal to all local residents and also using food products from local shops/market sellers in spalding town with donations only given from which 100% of donations going back into the project to help with local homelessness, poverty, young adults/teenagers and pensioners (concentrating on mental health also) in central Spalding for spalding residents.
We have big plans to ensure no one locally goes without a hot meal which should not be an issue in this day and age but unfortunately it is.
We will then look to created jobs evolved around providing food for local residents as above for local residents with mental health conditions or OAP's that just want a few hours socialising by talking to the public, serving food and able to earn a little extra to spend at the market on a Tuesday (OAP's keep the market alive)
We contacted the councils relevant office for support and a possible grant/donation but was told we would have to wait until next April for any financial support from the local council and my details have been passed to a third party.
The money raised from donations will all be put into setting up a pop up kitchen and all equipment needed to get started.
We are looking to be in town on a non market day (1 day to start with and grow the word of the cause). we will have all relevant food safety certification, public liability will also be sorted, We have already contacted the food safety team in the spalding office explaining what our plan is and they will be ready to inspect the pop up kitchen to get a 5 star rating.
We want to be able to then eventually have this perminatly situated to provide food daily for people in Spalding who can't afford to eat a proper meal.
We are volunteering our time and over 20 years of catering knowledge to do something good locally for local people with a service we think is needed.
We also want to create some jobs for local people with mental health issues (My partner has bipolar so this is very close to my heart)
A facebook group will also be created which will be updated of the progress of the project and where the money has been spent will also be disclosed.
Please help us get this project started. We also welcome any local businesses and residents to get involved.
Spalding has a population of over 30k residents. If every resident donated 16p, that's all it would take to get this project started. Imagine what we could do with £1 from every resident.
Thanks in advance
