Feed Our Heroes
During the Coronavirus crisis, our frontline healthcare heroes are hard at work everyday, putting their own health at risk to keep us safe. In a time of incredible stress and emotion, we want to support our amazing hospitals by giving away 10,000 healthy meals to feed the frontline.
As a doctor, I am in close contact with hospital staff during the coronavirus preparation and have heard the stories of the low morale and stress on the front lines. Having had my own experiences working entire shifts without a lunch break, I know how a nourishing lunch can make a huge difference to my day.
That's when my team at Pokéd decided that we would do everything we can to bring smiles back to our hospital staff because they absolutely deserve it. We have had the privilege to deliver over 200 bowls to Melbourne Hospitals in the last two weeks and have had an absolutely incredible response, but we need your help to continue bringing food to our heroes so they can refuel and focus on caring for patients. Together, we will be working with hospitality brands such as Cupcake Central, and coordinate with each hospital's Wellbeing and Donations teams to feed healthcare teams including medical and nursing staff, cleaning staff, pathology lab teams, IT, assistants and many more! We are also looking to expand our donations to other groups in need of a good feed!

What will your donations buy?
We will provide a full lunch for every $5 donation we receive. That means:
- $20 buys 4 meals!
- $50 buys 10 meals - one hospital unit
- $100 buys 20 meals - a hospital ward
- $200 buys 40 meals - a hospital department
- $500 buys 100 meals - an entire ICU/ED in a major hospital
- $1000 buys 200 meals - enough food for an ICU/ED and 5 wards!
In addition we are partnering with Cupcake Central to include their delicious cupcakes with our donations
We serve delicious and healthy poké bowls packed full of fresh, locally sourced sashimi or meat, salad, veggies, brown rice, flavourful sauces and toppings. We hope to give frontline workers more healthy choices when they would otherwise rely on food delivery or hospital cafeterias.
With your support, we will be able to deliver 10,000 meals to the front lines over this incredibly difficult time. Along the way we will be creating crucial jobs for hospitality staff and supporting local butchers and suppliers. Together we can make a massive impact to fight this pandemic!

Who are we?
We are an experienced operator in the restaurant industry working with local suppliers to deliver our delicious poké bowls direct to Hospitals at $5 a head. 100% of the donations to this campaign will go towards paying staff wages, and the cost of ingredients. There will be no admin, marketing, or overhead costs withdrawn from this fund, they will be covered by Pokéd. Every meal will be made fresh to order for lunch by qualified staff who will be employed and paid their full reward rates.
We are working closely with wellbeing and donations teams to ensure donations are evenly distributed throughout all hospital teams from doctors and nurses to cleaners and IT staff. We are also working with volunteers to bring food directly to the wards to make life as convenient as possible for busy healthcare professionals. Over the last two weeks we have reached out and donated over 200 meals to hospitals, and have ambitions to grow!
How will deliveries be done safely?
To limit contact as much as possible, we have designated pickup points at the hospital entrance or foyer so our staff do not need to enter hospitals. We have also specifically trained our staff on effective hand hygiene and social distancing requirements in addition to our strict food safety training. Bulk food deliveries actually reduce the amount of risky contact between hospital staff and external delivery drivers as there will only be contact with one person throughout the delivery process.
Which hospitals will we be delivering to?
We hope to deliver meals to any hospital within Melbourne. We can immediately cater to any of the following hospitals and are looking to expand:
The Royal Melbourne Hospital
St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne
The Alfred Hospital
Royal Children's Hospital
The Austin
Western Health (Footscray and Sunshine Hospital)
Eastern Health (Box Hill Hospital)
Northern Health
Monash Medical Centre
Will we be expanding to other groups in need?
Yes! We are open for nominations to anyone including other essential workers or organisations bringing food to those in need. We would love to help in any way we can, healthcare is just a space we have a lot of existing connections with.
