We need your help to raise money, with 100% of proceeds going to local restaurants to make delicious hearty, seriously good quality meals that go to healthcare heroes on the frontline of COVID-19 at Sydney hospitals
Feed Our Heroes is a charity delivering free meals to healthcare workers and hospital teams on the frontline, who are putting themselves at risk protecting us all. While Australia continues lifting restrictions and life begins looking a bit more normal for most of us, those working in our hospitals are still at risk. For them there is a long journey back to normality, which is likely to go on for many months. Heightened procedures remain in place and long shift work continues to make it a challenging time for Hospital staff.
At the same time hospitality and those restaurants we are supporting are still just hanging on and have a long way to go, to repair and recover from these tough times.
The meals we deliver are as important and appreciated as ever
This is what it takes to feed the healthcare heroes and support more local restaurants:
$12 buys 1 healthcare worker a meal
$50 buys 4 healthcare workers a meal
$250 buys 20 healthcare workers a meal
$600 buys 50 healthcare workers a meal
We are aiming to deliver 500 meals per week across Sydney and our goal of $100K means we could do this for 4 months.
If you can, please donate and share. No amount is too small! The more we raise, the more meals we can send to more hospitals, and the more restaurants we can support.
We’re currently feeding healthcare workers at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and St. Vincent's Hospitals in Sydney with 100% of funds going directly to partnered local restaurants to purchase their individually packaged meals and delivering them to hospital teams. We’re also providing much needed revenue to those restaurants and food operators who are still open and are just holding on, getting by on takeaway orders alone.
As community support grows, so will our program. With your help, we are looking to increase the number of hospitals we can feed and restaurants we can secure an additional revenue stream for in the coming months ahead.
We’ll keep you updated as we continue to grow our partnerships with local restaurants, so if you’re keen to support your favourite restaurant and they’re working with us - you can mark their name on your donation and we’ll make sure your $$’s goes towards paying for the meals from that restaurant.
How it works
It’s critical that the restaurants we partner with are HACCP certified, follow stringent food safety guidelines, and meals are prepared and delivered with all social distancing measures in place. We’re working directly with the hospitals to meet their requirements around this to gain approved supplier status. We’ve equally designed our restaurant quality meals to be refrigerated and reheated when it suits the healthcare worker to make it super easy for them when they take a break. This is our thank you from the community to all the teams on the frontline for everything they’re doing to protect us.
Hally Lara, Sanj Anderson, Paul Kelly and Kelly Taylor are the founders of Feed Our Heroes. They will be withdrawing all donated funds, with100% of these funds going directly to the restaurant to pay retail prices for the meals. Our operators are not asked to provide food at cost or compromise their margins when it is already so tough for the industry. Each restaurant and food supplier is paid before the hospital drop.
A little bit about us
With family and friends in both the healthcare and hospitality industries, we're four people who are social distancing, but wanted to find a way to help. After coming across some incredible initiatives where communities are feeding their frontline workers overseas, and with backgrounds covering all bases from the marketing, brand & advertising guru, the strategic experience designer, to the digital product development whizz, along with a hospitality consultant, we decided to join forces to create Feed our Heroes.
