Feed Communities-One Seed At A Time

Donation protected
My name is Amee Mitchell. I have been a resident of North Dakota for Almost 10 years and  living in Minot for the last 5.

With a percentage of homelessness and a percentage of low income families here in Minot North Dakota, and countless other surrounding communities in the United States and World Wide, I've seen too much.

I want to open several Seed Libraries in the USA, but I can only start where I am, with what I have.

The funds raised will be implemented into:

*Commissioning/manufacturing a building, land and/or smaller outpost(s) in and around the Minot area, for donating/receiving seeds.

* Supplies needed to organize and run the seed Library. Items such as:
-Pantry(s)/cabinet(s) or Library card holders for organizing seeds
-Shed(s) for holding donations of larger items such as recycled containers, Gardening/landscaping tools and equipment( Gloves, shovels, rakes, hand tillers, ect

The "plan" is to open the Library beginning of spring sow season 2024 and close it shortly after harvest season until the following year. This would be open seasonally, for now.

It would be available for the community to trade/donate seeds and supplies for themselves and others. This might also include fruits and vegetables from family gardens that have been donated.

I have been in contact with Elly DesLauriers, the new Executive Director of the Minot Park District, and Emily How, an agricultural, natural resource and horticultural agent in Hasvey Ward County.
I have expressed strong interest in opening a Seed Library in Minot.
Both Emily and Elly support the idea and are awaiting my proposal to be submitted.
They have urged me to continue communicating with my community for resources and support.

I believe you could help this movement in so many ways!

Too many resources are spent on feeding individuals and families for one day.
If we planted fruits and vegetables every year for our communities instead of just our own families,
world hunger would not exist.

Teaching communities these skills, feeds them for a lifetime and feeds other families and their future generations. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving.
