FEED A STRAY A DAY Food Appeal

Donation protected

Feed A Stray A Day is our Winter Food Appeal for no-kill charity, The World League for Protection of Animals Inc. The campaign is in honor of a white cat named May who died at age 8 in May 2016 in Elswick St Leichhardt. She died from starvation 5 weeks after becoming lost. Our search party found her still warm in a garden where occupants had seen her for 3 weeks but they failed to give her food or water. Of course feeding a "stray" a day is not enough on its own. But feeding is the only pathway to rescuing a lost or abandoned animal and desexing those born in the wild with no owner for their vet care and feeding. We find cats rather than dogs need our help as thousands of cats go missing and need rescuing and to be reunited with their owners.

Sadly for "May" the occupants of the home where she was found thought it odd when we told them that they should have fed her AND that they should have acted to find out who she was and who her owner was. Instead they chose not to act. Others who find lost cats in their garden are told by Councils or other authorities not to feed! Not feeding a domestic cat on your property is a crime if he or she is there day after day with no one else to feed.

So, it is the right thing to do to feed an animal in such a predicament as being lost. World League feeds some 500 cats a day in Sydney which is expensive! we need to raise around $60,000 a year for foods. What is more, we pay full retail price. "May's" death was preventable. She died only 20 houses down from her own. Sadly she was owned by an 80 year old man who had no photo of her.

Please help WLPA this Winter to restock the kitty for the kitties and donate money through this appeal, or deliver food donations to our door at our Adoption Centre 199-201 Victoria Road Gladesville. Donations to our Centre or via our website and via this appeal are tax deductible so please give us your details so we can prepare a tax-related receipt for you. Thank you.
