Hi, my name is Francesco Maria. I’m a Consecrated Brother in Koinonia John the Baptist. Koinonia is an international community in the Catholic Church with a passion for providing people with the possibility to encounter Jesus and experience his love in the community.

We’re based on the slopes of Slemish in the Glens of Antrim, with a mission across Ireland. Our small community here are from Ireland, Italy and Mexico. I’m from Rome, and I’ve lived in Ireland since 2015.

I head up our community’s youth ministry, serving young people across the Glens of Antrim, Ballymena, and in West and East Belfast.

Wherever we’re based, our community reaches out in friendship to Christians across denominations and this is core to our youth ministry here in Ireland. As well as our young people facing isolation and mental health challenges over the past couple of years, COVID has had a major impact on this aspect of our ministry.

We founded Fearless in 2018, with youth ministry partners from the Methodist Church, Church of Ireland and Presbyterian congregations.

At its heart, Fearless provides a very special and unique opportunity for young people to come together from diverse contexts and encounter Jesus together. It is a safe space for young people to ask questions, grow in personal faith at their own pace, and experience the diversity of each other’s traditions.

It has been an amazing adventure so far, with hundreds collaborating in fun, faith and friendship. We’ve been blessed to witness many young people grow as disciples for Christ with a vision of peace and reconciliation for this place.

As we fully emerge from COVID, we are asking you to partner with us through your generosity and prayer!

With the pandemic, much of the interaction at the heart of Fearless was paused. Across our partner congregations, children and young people have missed out on the social interaction at the core of discipleship. We’ve continued our collaboration, and we hope that Fearless 2023 will see even more young people engage across Christ’s Church locally!

How does Fearless ‘work’?

We try to provide the opportunities and let the Holy Spirit do the rest!

From April to July, we concentrate on providing meaningful opportunities to grow in confidence and form friendships across traditions. This is done simply through visiting each other’s fellowship/church in a form of a unity pilgrimage.

Your generosity will help us create the welcome and provide fun activities to make these early encounters memorable!

We have been extremely blessed by our partnership and friendship with the team at Summer Madness. Summer Madness is the largest Christian youth festival on the island of Ireland, and each year we create a cross-community hub at the heart of the camping village. Our intention is to do the same in 2023. We have never let financial challenges be a barrier for young people. Your donation will support families who can’t afford to contribute and allow us to create a safe and welcoming space for our young people.

We have seen lives transformed at Summer Madness. Your generosity will allow this to create the environment for each young person to open themselves to a deeper relationship with Jesus and with each other.

From August onwards, we regularly bring our young people together to share their dreams for this place, and to form them with the skills to help this dream become a reality. At the heart of this is our young people engaging in social action, in projects that bring adults from across our communities together.

Over the years, this has included events to provide Christmas gifts for young people in care, and events to raise funds for groups like SVP, Salvation Army and Tearfund.

Your support and generosity will help us provide our young people with the skills, courage and opportunity to take the lead in reaching out to others in need.

Our team from across the churches are experienced and trained to ensure that our young people experience and explore questions of diversity and division, challenging them to go deeper, while keeping fun, faith and friendship front and centre. Ciao, mi chiamo Francesco Maria. Sono un Fratello Consacrato nella Koinonia Giovanni Battista. La Koinonia è una comunità internazionale nella Chiesa cattolica con la passione di offrire alle persone la possibilità di incontrare Gesù e sperimentare il suo amore in un contesto comunitario.

Siamo basati sulle pendici dello Slemish, con una missione in tutta l'Irlanda. La nostra piccola comunità qui proviene da Irlanda, Italia e Messico. Sono di Roma e vivo in Irlanda dal 2015.

Dirigo il ministero dei giovani della nostra comunità, al servizio dei giovani nelle valli di Antrim, Ballymena e nella parte occidentale e orientale di Belfast.

Ovunque ci troviamo, la nostra comunità si rivolge in amicizia ai cristiani di tutte le denominazioni e questo è fondamentale per il nostro ministero dei giovani qui in Irlanda. Il COVID ha avuto un impatto importante su questo aspetto del nostro ministero.

Abbiamo fondato Fearless nel 2018, con partner di pastorale giovanile della Chiesa metodista, della Chiesa d'Irlanda e delle congregazioni presbiteriane.

Fondamentalmente, Fearless offre un'opportunità molto speciale e unica per i giovani di riunirsi da contesti diversi e incontrare Gesù insieme. È uno spazio sicuro in cui i giovani possono porre domande, crescere nella fede personale al proprio ritmo e sperimentare la diversità delle reciproche tradizioni.

Finora è stata un'avventura straordinaria, con centinaia di persone che hanno collaborato nel divertimento, nella fede e nell'amicizia. Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di assistere alla crescita di molti giovani come discepoli di Cristo con una visione di pace e riconciliazione per questo luogo.

Mentre emergiamo completamente da COVID, vi chiediamo di collaborare con noi attraverso la vostra generosità e preghiera!

Con la pandemia, gran parte dell'interazione al centro di Fearless è stata messa in pausa. Nelle nostre congregazioni partner, bambini e giovani hanno perso l'interazione sociale. Nonostante ciò abbiamo continuato la nostra collaborazione e speriamo che Fearless 2023 vedrà ancora più giovani impegnati nella Chiesa di Cristo a livello locale!

Come "funziona" Fearless?

Cerchiamo di fornire le opportunità e lasciamo che lo Spirito Santo faccia il resto!

Da aprile a luglio, ci concentriamo sul fornire opportunità significative per crescere nella fiducia e formare amicizie attraverso le tradizioni. Questo viene fatto semplicemente visitando la comunità/chiesa dell'altro cogliendo le bellezze e le ricchezze che ognuno ha nella sua unicità

La tua generosità ci aiuterà a creare l'accoglienza e a fornire attività divertenti per rendere memorabili questi primi incontri!

Siamo stati estremamente benedetti dalla nostra collaborazione e amicizia con il team di Summer Madness. Summer Madness è il più grande festival giovanile cristiano dell'isola d'Irlanda e ogni anno creiamo un centro intercomunitario nel cuore del villaggio campeggio. La nostra intenzione è di fare lo stesso nel 2023. Non abbiamo mai lasciato che le sfide finanziarie fossero un ostacolo per i giovani. La tua donazione sosterrà le famiglie che non possono permettersi di contribuire e ci permetterà di creare uno spazio sicuro e accogliente per i nostri giovani.

Abbiamo visto vite trasformate a Summer Madness. La vostra generosità permetterà di creare l'ambiente affinché ogni giovane si apra a un rapporto più profondo con Gesù e tra di loro.

Da agosto in poi, riuniamo regolarmente i nostri giovani per condividere i loro sogni per la loro nazione e per formarli con le competenze per aiutare questo sogno a diventare realtà. Al centro di tutto ciò ci sono i nostri giovani impegnati in azioni sociali, in progetti che riuniscono adulti di tutte le nostre comunità.

Nel corso degli anni, ciò ha incluso eventi per fornire regali di Natale ai giovani in cura ed eventi per raccogliere fondi per gruppi come SVP, Salvation Army e Tearfund.

Il vostro sostegno e la vostra generosità ci aiuteranno a fornire ai nostri giovani le capacità, il coraggio e l'opportunità di assumere un ruolo guida nel raggiungere gli altri bisognosi.
