My mom is one of the strongest women I've come to know.  Based on the stories she has told me of her childhood, she went from working the farms in the Philippines to a working professional nurse.  That career eventually leads her to the United States where she continued to work at Resurrection Medical Center for 35 years.  She dedicated her life to not only help others heal, but help other family members come to the US for a better life.  All the while raising two sons, working full time, and cooking enough food to serve at least a dozen or more families.

One of the most consistent and strongest memories I have of my mom is her passion for cooking.  Anytime she made food for one party or another she would make enough for our neighbors as well.  Each time.  Almost without fail, assuming someone was home to receive her cooking.

She passed away on June 6th, 2017, succumbing to pancreatic cancer.

My mom survived by her husband Nicandro and her three sons Jorell (myself), Noel (deceased), and Ulysses.  And many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her visitation is planned to be on Sunday, June 11th from 3-8p at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street in Des Plaines, Illinois.  Funeral mass will be Monday, June 12th at 10am at St. Zachary Church, 567 W Algonquin Rd, Des Plaines, Illinois.
