Sweet Snickers was an abandoned pet cat rescued from the streets of Worcester this summer. After evaluation by a local vet, he was found to have FIV (the feline version of HIV) and needed to have all of his teeth removed due to a painful condition called stomatitis (his dental procedure was in July).
He went into foster care after his dental surgery and did well until his ears began bothering him. Despite treatment, his ear condition became progressively worse, and he developed neurological symptoms secondary to the ear problems (loss of balance, dizziness, Horner's syndrome ).
Snickers was recently seen by a veterinary dermatology specialist, and it was discovered that he has a large hole in his left ear drum and a deep infection in his middle ear and external ear. This diagnosis required an extensive medical work up by the specialist, and will require treatment and additional follow up with the specialist for several weeks.
Snickers' medical bills to date have totaled over $1000, all paid by his foster family since Snickers does not yet have a shelter or rescue group sponsoring him. His foster family has done everything necessary to treat his condition and give him a loving home, and they could really use some help with these expenses before their credit card payments become due.
Any small amount will go a long way in making sure this sweet boy continues to get the medical care he needs to heal so that someday he can make his way to his forever home.
