New Cochlear Implants

I have an elementary student who needs an extremely outdated cochlear implant replaced, but his family has struggled to find the money.  This wonderful family fosters children and adopted this precious young man and his brothers when they were very young.    These implants are extremely expensive, and it has been difficult to keep up with the costs associated with keeping them working and up to date.  The student’s battery charger and rechargeable battery packs no longer work.  He has been using a charger and battery packs that were donated by the family of a previous student.  The donated batteries are no longer working.  Regular batteries do not last throughout the school day.  One of the student’s cochlear implant is only working intermittently and cannot be repaired because of the age of the device.   This is his sole means of participating in the environment the way you and I do... full of sound!  Imagine sitting in a classroom and trying to hear the teacher but the way you have heard for most of your life (using the cochlear implants) is compromised.  Those of us who want to see this fun-loving young man have the greatest chance of succeeding in life need your help.  The goal is to help the family raise the funds they need to cover the cost that they are responsible for (insurance only covers some of the costs).   Please help me and those that work with him every day, raise the funds that family needs to get the new equipment he needs.  Don't take hearing for granted.
