New York Marathon (finally) ...
I have been diagnosed with cancer 3 times in 2 years. I'm currently receiving treatment for a tumour in my spine, suffice to say I haven't had the best of luck. This disease continues to challenge me but I won't give up and I will keep fighting and running, it will never define me. I am continually humbled by the incredible people I meet on my shitty journey, this disease has gifted me 'humility', unfortunately you can sadly guarantee that someone is having a bigger struggle than you. So this is for them and everyone else fighting their own war against cancer.
I have missed the New York Marathon twice now because of ill health so I am f**ked if I will miss it again. Cancer has cost me big time; financially, emotionally and physically it's heartbreaking. People only ever see the optimism and the positivity, but the real fight happens when you are on your own, with your own thoughts. It is a living hell.
So in November I want to be on that plane ready to take it on and finally fulfil my dream of running/ walking/ crawling the New York Marathon.
Money raised will help me get there. What is left I will add to my open page at www.runningroberts.com
I raise money for Cancer Research UK. It's because of research that I am still alive.
I need to do this!
