Relaunch the Dual Identity Leadership Program (DILP)

Donation protected
For over a decade, the Dual Identity Leadership Program (DILP) has empowered young Australians of dual heritage to embrace their cultures, lead with confidence, and make a lasting impact in their communities.

Since 2014, more than 200 graduates have completed the program — many going on to achieve remarkable success in the corporate, political, and community spheres. Among them are three DILP alumni who have been elected to local councils, including two of the youngest Mayors in Australian history.

After a three-year hiatus, DILP is returning in 2026 — stronger, independent, and ready to inspire a new generation of dual-heritage leaders. This relaunch marks an exciting new chapter in our story: one driven by young people, for young people, with a renewed focus on leadership, identity, and belonging.

We’re calling on our community, alumni, and supporters to help us bring this vision to life.

Why DILP Matters
DILP exists to help young Vietnamese Australians connect with their heritage, navigate dual identity, and become leaders in their chosen fields. It’s more than a leadership program — it’s a movement that builds confidence, cultural pride, and purpose.

What Makes DILP Different
  • Building the Capacity to Lead
The DILP program spans seven workshops and a leadership retreat, covering personal, community, and political leadership. Participants gain the skills and mindset to overcome barriers and lead authentically as Vietnamese Australians in a diverse Australia.

  • Cultural Core
DILP is delivered through the lens of Vietnamese Australian youth, helping participants see their dual heritage as a source of strength. This focus on identity helps them build self-awareness, belonging, and a deeper connection to community.

  • Social Impact Projects
Every cohort turns learning into action through Social Impact Projects — addressing real issues such as mental health, gender equality, LGBTIQA+ inclusion, and preserving cultural heritage. These projects give participants hands-on experience in creating meaningful social change.

  • Youth-Focused and Alumni-Led
Unlike many community programs, DILP is entirely run by alumni volunteers — over 20 dedicated graduates who continue to build and evolve the program they once completed. This keeps DILP self-sustaining, relevant, and true to the needs of today’s youth.

Our Track Record
Since 2014, DILP has:
  • Graduated 200+ alumni across eight successful programs
  • Been recognised as one of Victoria’s longest-running multicultural leadership initiatives
  • Maintained an equal gender balance across its Advisory Board, Alumni, and Steering Committee
  • DILP continues to be a proudly youth-led, community-driven initiative — a living example of leadership through collaboration, identity, and service.
