We are so very grateful to become parents and are so excited about holding our baby in our arms soon. Pregnancy has been a wild and lovely journey, and I look forward to the intensity that birthing our little guy will behold. I have been fascinated about birth for a while, and view it as a beautiful and empowering experience, one that I am sure is full of surprises for me!
With all this in mind, we have began working with an "ostetrica". An Ostetrica is a type of midwife, a birth professional who approaches pregnancy and birth as a holistic experience. She (or sometimes he) can administer some medical help if needed and knows when a doctor may be needed. But she helps to create something far beyond this. She believes that parents should be well informed of options and ultimately make the choices best for their family. What really sets an ostetrica apart is that she provides support for pregnancy and birth beyond the physical:emotional, psychological, social...helping a woman and couple tap into their own resources and helping them to find what they need on this path to parenthood. I believe that birth with all its challenges, intensities and demands is a an experience that merits a support system that values it as a special and holistic experience. An ostetrica, like me, believes that each woman has inside her what she needs, what her baby needs in order to bring him into this world. She is a support during the unique experience of birth-to the mom and the dad-whether at home, a birth center or hospital.
Some of our awesome friends in surprising us with a baby shower asked us for a baby registry. Then, they said "put more on it!" We have been lucky enough to have family pass on a lot of really cool stuff and do not lack much. So instead of beefing up a list with adorable things that we actually don't need, I decided to create this gofundme. This way whoever would like to share their joy with us through a gif from our wish list can have the choice to do it by helping us with one of the best gifts possible...the gift of bringing our baby into this world in an enviorment and state of mind, body and spirit that is fitting for something so special.
