Megan's Crohn's Battle
Donation protected
As of July 2014, my Crohn's Disease is no longer in remission. As a result of a week long hospitalization, a large amount of time lost working, medical bills, medications, etc. I am behind financially on those debts and am now looking at adding a medication (Humira) that costs $400 for a 90 day supply. While I am applying to copay assistance programs I am looking at a process longer than is preferred to get this medication started.
This medication is the next step in preventing possible surgery due to lack of response from current treatments. I am currently working two jobs and trying to catch up as much as possible but unfortunately I am falling more and more behind as the bills accrue. My current medications cost $150 a month and my copay for each doctors visit is $50, so things add up very quickly. I have set my current goal to get to where I could be caught up and pay for the first copay of my Humira.
I am never one to ask for help for myself, and have always prided myself in spending whatever time and energy I have raising money for others. Before this hospitalization I was in the process of signing back up for fall classes to start my nursing degree. It is my hope that this will help me get back on my feet and in remission, so that I can complete this goal and be able to better tackle the life long medical bills that this disease has caused. I thank everyone for their support and help.
