Late Monday night Jerry Stewart who is 4 years old had a life changing moment. Little Jer Bear had a seizure after never having one before and always being a wild child making everyone laugh at him and his brothers crazy antics. This was a terrifying moment for everyone that knows the family. After being brought to the hospital in Williston, ND by Ambulance tests and scans were completed and it was found that he had a tumor on his brain that was causing bleeding and intracranial pressure. Jerry was intubated and flown out to Fargo, ND in order to have more advanced care and to undergo surgery to remove the tumor and release the pressure on his brain.

Talked with the peds neuro surgeon this morning and went over the results of the post op MRI/CT. She was fairly certain she got virtually all of the tumor. Pathology results will dictate what if further treatments will be necessary. If it is an aggressive class tumor, radiation/chemo will more than likely used to try to eradicate the cells left behind.
As for brain function/damage, she was fairly optimistic. The lower 2 sections of his brain stem show virtually no signs of damage and the top section shows some stroke type damage. No real way to tell what that means long term, it’s just wait and see.
His pupils are still very minimally reactive but she seemed hopeful that he would start to show improvement as the swelling goes down.
He is breathing on his own, over the ventilator and he slightly wiggles his toes if you tickle his feet... which are both good signs
Some fairly significant damage on the right side of his brain, which most likely will mean movement and coordination issues on his left side.
Kind of all we really know at this point. Just Have to wait and see how he progresses and recovers over the next few weeks. Keep Jer Bear in your prayers.
