We are your average hardworking family. Mom, Dad and two kids. 2014 has been a banner year for losses for us.
Job losses for both of us, loss of insurance, loss of sanity.
A week ago our home was broken in to and we were robbed. Our son was home when they broke in but was sleeping. He was woken by the noise of them and came face to face with one of the robbers. The thieves bolted out the front door that they had kicked in after they saw him. Because our son was home, they didn't get everything, but did manage to take 2 flat screen TV's, the PS3, a laptop, an iPad, the safe which had all of our birth certificates in it, our childrens social security cards, the car title, our marriage certificates, our lease, two death certificates and other paperwork. They also stole a little black travel jewelry box that had my mother's amythest bracelet in it that was given to me after she passed away. I'm just VERY glad these robbers did not have a weapon, or I could have come home to an empty house and a dead son. And no, we did not have renters insurance so what was taken is not covered by anything. It wasn't in the budget to have it at this point as we had just moved in to this house 4 months ago.
We went to our Realtor and pleaded our case to see if we would be able to get out of our lease. They were understanding of our situation but said they would have to talk to the owner and that it was up to them to let us out of the lease. We heard back from them today. They are going to let us out of our lease, but will be keeping our $1000 deposit. Seeing how we had 8 months left on our lease that's pretty minor for what they could have stuck us with.
Now we are faced with the situation that we need to be out of here ASAP per the owners, with very limited funds on hand to move in to another place. We need to be able to come up with first months rent, the deposit, the deposit for the utilities that will need to be turned on and for the moving truck to get our things out of here and in to a new place. The owners can at any time tell us to vacate immediately, right now they are waiting for us to tell them when we will be out and are charging us per day to stay here. This is where we seriously need as much help as we can get so we don't end up out on the street while waiting to save up enough cash to get in to a new place. We don't need to end up HOMELESS!
Anything you can spare will help us, and every penny brings us closer to being able to transition from this place to another place where we can rebuild our lives, which in so many ways feels like it was stolen from us when these people did this home invasion.
We will be eternally grateful for whatever you can give, no matter how much or how little!!!
