New bathroom in Guatemalan School

Donation protected
My name is Cynthia Gentilcore-Arreaga. I am a special education teacher in Westbury, NY. This past spring my son and I had the opportunity to visit my husband's family in Guatemala. We walked to the the local school and noticed that the bathroom was an outhouse with no sink. The children have leave the small school building to use the bathroom and then wash their hands with a hose.  There when a repair has to be done to the school the parents and families of the community give the money for the repairs. Recently they paid to fix a foundational wall.
I came back to NY and told my principal about the school. She had a wonderful idea of asking each student to bring in $1.00 in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.  We collected a total of $1306.00.  My six year old son, Benjamin,  was determined to collect money on his own for the school kids.  He started by bringing in the pictures to his teacher, telling her about the school and she gave him $20.00. I told him we can make a video and he can ask people all over the world to donate. He says "Kids shouldn't have to walk far or go outside to go to the bathroom".
