Hurricane Harvey Relief

I am not a native Houstonian, but have called Houston home for more than two years now. For those that don't know me, I played college rugby at the University of Florida and have spent years with the Gainesville Hogs and Fort Lauderdale Knights. I have also played Footy with the Fort Lauderdale Fighting Squids and now play for the Houston Lonestars.

I would guess that all of you have seen or are familiar with the damage that Harvey has brought this community. Having grown up in South Florida, I have had plenty of experience with hurricanes...but I have not seen anything like this before. We have been forced into a situation to battle against an unrelenting force. I am proud of how this community has responded, and how my Lonestar brothers and sisters he stepped up to provide aid where possible. We are rapidly registering as volunteers to aid those in need and bring the thousands who are still in need to safety. While giving our time is appreciated, our makeshift shelters are rapidly filling up, and many will need aid for weeks to come. I have never set up a Go Fund Me account before, but what our community really needs right now is supplies. If you see the devastation on television and feel the need to help out, I will provide you with a way to directly help those in need. We are coordinating runs to Costco and other department stores to purchase food, blankets, pillows, and hygienic products. 100% of the money raised here will go to purchasing these products and will be delivered to Houston shelters personally. I may not have played with you, or even against you, but I have seen how the Florida rugby and footy communities have rallied around our own in the past. So when I thought of how I could help the people of Houston, I figured that reaching out to the various teams within the FRU and USAFL would be the place to start.
