Jada the Dog's Surgery Fund

This is Jada the dog. I met her this morning at the vet's office. I had gone on to grab some dog food and overheard the heartbreaking story of how these people had been feeding her since someone dumped her nearby, that one day she came around and wouldn't put weight on her leg, and the vet saying they couldn't help her without an x-ray. The people could not even pay for the x-ray.
I really tried not to get involved. Tried humming to not overhear. They were telling the pe
ople all they could do was call animal control. I asked what would they do? If the legs brown, they'll euthanize her. I looked over and saw the leg looked like it was probably broken. I bent down to pet her and wish her luck. She hugged my arm and licked my hand. I couldn't just walk out. That dog had the personality of my own rescue, Pippa. A good dog, only one year old, an otherwise healthy -- I couldn't just leave without trying to help her. I called the local no kill shelter and they said they could not take her if she needed surgery. And no one could tell that without an x-ray. I volunteered to pay for the x-ray to see if it was indeed broken, and if so if splinting was a possibility. The first x-ray view showed that it was a broken femur.
My vet seemed to think splinting was a possibility, but she would be unable to walk normally. The no-kill vet felt it was cruel to splint and the dog needed a pin or to be euthanized. As of 3:30, it looked like she would be euthanized. Then, I looked at Facebook and saw all the amazing offers of help the picture of her had received.
So, I talked to yet another vet, a personal friend, who is going to call vets who do this sort of surgery tomorrow. I called the lady who found Jada and asked her not to take the dog to animal control. I asked her to please give me 24 hours to see if we could raise the money. So, here goes. Let's try to save this sweet, beautiful girl.
The amount to be raised is the guesstimate for the medical bills. If it's too low I'll cover the difference. If it's too high the difference will go to pay for her fostering during her recovery. Also, no one will be charged if the goal isn't met.
