Help Keep Our Ceramics Studio Alive!

Tax deductible
The Arts Castle needs your help! Our members make use of our pottery and ceramics kiln for much-needed therapy. The kiln has unfortunately seen its last firing and burnt out. What that means for us is a replacement kiln to keep our program going. We are asking for assistance raising $7,500 to purchase a new one as well as other much need equipment.

The Arts Castle Ceramic Studio is one of our most popular studios and hosts classes, workshops and camps throughout the year! Our studio hosts patrons of all ages from our pre-schoolers to our senior patrons. Members can gather and personally connect and continue making our space thriving and a highly sought-after space to be a part of.

The therapeutic value of working with ones own hands, expressing thoughts and feelings through art, and communing while connecting with other people on a similar journey is immensely valuable. If you are able, please consider donating to keep the fire burning and our art persisting.

Our clients want you to know what the ceramics studio means to them and how it enriches their lives:

"The Art’s Castle has created some amazing experiences for me. I have volunteered there and I have taken classes ever since I was a child. Working in the ceramics room especially has shown me how important art is for children and adults. Being able to create has always brought me so much joy. Teaching others and seeing how happy they are with what they have made is such a wonderful feeling. My experience at the castle has helped me decide to further my education in the arts. I am now studying ceramics at college. Without the experiences I've had here, I don’t know if I would have been so passionate about it. The castle needs to have its ceramic classes continue as it is an important foundation for creativity and learning." -Rachel M.

“After 30 years I finally found a special place where I can connect back with the creative part of my brain through pottery. I graduated in pottery back in Ecuador and since I moved here to the States I found it very difficult to find a pottery class. Last year I received information from the Arts Castle through the mail and decided to try it out. I love coming to class, creating new art pieces and re-learning from a very talented and wonderful person such as Rhainy. I hope this program continues for many many years. It has been such a blessing to me.” -Natalie U

“I have always been crafty and love trying new things. My husband was a ceramic artist in high school. We took our first ceramics class in 2018. We used it as a date night. After that, I was hooked and I brought the family along. We have taken a ceramics class in every session available over the years. Whether it was my husband and me, just our child or all three of us at once."
"Today, my ceramics class has become my 'circle,' a place for me to unwind during the week, create art and chat. My ceramics teacher has become one of my closest friends and has even brought me on as one of her ceramic workshop teachers. It means a lot that she had the confidence in me to do that. The ceramics studio and the Arts Castle have become a permanent part of our family’s life and I would hate to see it not able to continue. Rhainy Edwards has worked tirelessly over the years to improve the studio and get it running as well as it does. However, she can only do so much with one working kiln. Having two functioning kilns is essential to keep offering the number of classes the Castle does.” -Erin G.

"Making pottery is like playing in the mud. It releases stress and increases happiness. The ceramic studio at the Arts Castle has forged life-long friendships. I have arthritis in my hands, and making pottery has reduced symptoms." -Phyllis A.

"Please consider helping keep this wonderful program alive! I have been taking ceramic classes at the Delaware Arts Castle for a couple of years. Learned new skills and made some fun projects, but most of all made some great friends!" -Sally S.

“Most of you already know how much I love ceramics and even more so Rhainy. Ceramics and Rhainy have been a key part of my life for nearly 10 years now. Rhainy has loved me like her own and I taught me many lessons… some being life lesson and some being how to give a ceramic giraffe human eyes. Unfortunately, her well loved kiln has reached its demise. If you or anyone you know has a few extra dollars to donate to get her a new kiln so she can continue to change the lives of her students like she changed mine <3” -Emma C.

"I took my first class at the Arts Castle nearly a decade ago and have made great friends and so many memories over the years. I have also had the opportunity to teach a few classes and even sell some of my work in the community. Please consider donating if you can so Rhainy can keep the pottery studio running smoothly!" -Emily R.
