Legal Representation For Custody Of My Son

Donation protected
My son Carson was born on April 21st, 2011.

Me and my ex raised him together for the first two years of his life, at the time she was heavy into drugs and I could not take it any longer. Unfortunately we were not married and her parents took Carson to care for him while she was in her "condition". I had to move 9 hours away for work, but came back three months later to find her parents home empty, phone numbers changed, and Carson vanished without a trace. For two years I tried to track them down, but could not find them.

Thanksgiving 2018.

The day before Thanksgiving 2018, I received a phone call for a shelter in place hearing in mid-court session where Carson was being removed from his mother's care due to her drug addiction, no power water or food in the house, feces filled in the bath tubs, and the fact he was now 7 years old and never enrolled in school. The only reason the courts were able to find me was because I kept the same phone number for over 10 years, hoping that one day I would get a call about my son, but did not expect it to be under these circumstances.

My Battle with the State of Florida.

When I found out I immediately did everything I could and complied with the courts to gain placement and custody of my son. I was appointed an attorney because I do not make enough income to afford one. My court appointed attorney has not bothered to show to my hearings, take my calls, or return my calls thus making this case nearly impossible.

I was supposed to have a placement hearing on March 11th,  to gain custody of Carson and finally bring him home. However, without representation the hearing was cancelled and moved to the end of May. When I found out about Carson the day before Thanksgiving, I immediately setup a bedroom, bought clothes, toys, and setup a Christmas tree with gifts under it hoping that he would be placed with me immediately. However, it has now been months and he is still in the care of the state.

An Attorney Who Could be a God-Send.

I have spoken with an attorney who feels that she can help me with my case, including filing emergency motions with the court to place Carson where he deserves to be, with a loving caring father who can support him and provide what he needs to grow and become a well mannered young man. Unfortunately, while paying rent and only making 10$ per hour managing a pizza restaurant, I cannot afford to hire this attorney.

Desperate times call for desperate measures right? The attorney I met with has quoted me $2000 total for the entire case, with a retainer of $850. I have lived on my own since I was 15 years old and pay my taxes, work hard, and do the best I can to be a productive member of society, but still the cost of an attorney is not something that I currently have available to move this case forward.

Contribute or Share, Your Kindness is Greatly Appreciated.

Even if you can not contribute to my cause, please share my campaign so that others may have a chance to read my story. And even if you can not contribute, I thank YOU for taking your time to read my story. Thank you to everyone who has shown and continue to show support. I can not wait to be reunited with my son.
