Father suffers cardiac arrest, Family struggles

Richnhia Vue is a 48-year-old Hmong man living in St. Paul, Minnesota, and an immigrant from Laos. He is married to Michelle Mao Vang and has five beautiful children, the youngest son being 8 years old. Despite his trials and struggles, he was always there for his children no matter what. He is a notable example of persistence and working for what you want, which is what he instilled in his children every day. He continuously provides for his family although he has had many health problems before.

 

On October 30th, Richnhia suffered a severe heart attack and was transported to St. John's Hospital, where he currently receives treatment. On the morning of his heart attack, his eldest daughter and son-in-law drove him with his wife in the backseat to the hospital. While on the highway, Richnhia’s heart stopped, and he went into cardiac arrest in his wife’s arms. Doctors confirmed later that day that he died on the highway, until he was resuscitated 40 minutes after his arrival to the emergency room. Now, his heart is severely damaged. He has not recovered from his heart attack and other health conditions related to his body being deprived of blood flow and oxygen.

 

He has two daughters and three sons. Two of his children are first-generation college students who are attending universities in Minnesota. His eight-year-old son is scheduled to have eye surgery next week to fix his amblyopia. His youngest daughter recently got into a car accident while driving to the hospital to see her mother while she stays in the ICU to care for Richnhia. The daughter is currently dealing with face injuries and a strained wrist. After the heart attack, Michelle is the only breadwinner in the family, working full-time and taking care of her children in the best way she can.
