Father & Son lose EVERYTHING due to tragic fire!!!

Unbeknownst to him, my son, Johnny, had a gas leak in his home. Tragically on Friday, October 23, 2020, the unthinkable happened; a horrible explosion! He lost ALL worldly possessions yet through God’s Grace alone, my son is ALIVE! My precious 25 year old son suffered 2nd & 3rd degree burns throughout his body. Currently he is in the Burn Unit at Our Lady Of Lourdes in Lafayette, Louisiana, being cared for by the very best healthcare team, with God leading as Ultimate Physician! By God’s saving Grace, He prevented his son, my 14 month old grandson, from being home this frightful day!! My Lord spared TWO LIVES!! Thank You Jesus!! Although Johnny has a long, hard, painful road to recovery, I rejoice because my son is ALIVE!!!
Johnny has spent 25 days in ICU & has progressed amazingly well!! He just transferred to the Burn Unit Rehabilitation for therapy this week! His doctor told me yesterday he has NEVER seen a burn patient progress so well to be considered for discharge within 7 days let alone WITHOUT medical equipment, ie: wheelchair, walker or cane!! Johnny is no doubt a miracle and his healthcare team expresses the same! For this I am in complete awe & thankfulness!! His motivation is to get “home” to raise his son, Caylum, who is in my care during this tumultuous time.
I along with his brother, Alex, have remained at Johnny’s side, rotating night shifts, during his ICU stay. In rehab there are no overnight visitors allowed & this is when I became overwhelmed with “materialistic” items they lost. I chose this chilling picture of Caylum’s burned crib as realization. Currently I’m searching desperately for an apartment or small house for him to come home to as well as complete furnishings, help with expenses, food, etc., until he is medically cleared to work again because he will have daily dressing changes for his burns along with outpatient therapy.
No doubt I had to set aside my pride & fears to create this GoFundMe at the suggestion from a friend. Anything & EVERYTHING will help. I understand completely if you are unable to contribute financially. I appreciate you taking the time to read this & ask that you join me in prayer for strength in Johnny. To give him hope, faith & healing with knowing his purpose in this life with giving ultimate thankfulness for LIFE, especially as Thanksgiving approaches. Johnny’s 26th birthday is this Sunday, November 22, 2020. Although he hoped to be discharged from the hospital by then, I will celebrate his day of birth by his side. I rejoice that this Thanksgiving will have an entirely new meaning of giving “Thanks.” Finally, seeing my son daily in excruciating pain renders me helpless yet more so crippling for me as his Mother. I must remain strong for HIM so that he may get well to raise HIS son.
