Fashion Revolution Week 2020

This Giving Tuesday, Fashion Revolution will tackle the environmental and social damage of hyper-discount culture with positive change. We are asking citizens to take a stand against mindless consumption, and retailers to abstain from discounts between Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. 

Why? Black Friday represents a sore spot in an industry that runs on overproduction. When we buy into the seemingly good deals, we send a message to brands that it’s okay for them to thoughtlessly produce, at the cost of people and the planet, because we’ll help them get rid of their stockpiles as long as they are discounted steeply. Last year in the UK, this spending amounted to £1.49 billion over Black Friday Weekend. 



Through this campaign, we are fundraising for our 2020 Fashion Revolution Week campaign. Since its inception, Fashion Revolution has pushed the needle of the industry in a more sustainable, transparent direction – one where consumers have the power to make demands and brands know that they need to respond. Through our Fashion Transparency Index, #WhoMadeMyClothes campaign, revolutionary fanzines, Fashion Open Studio initiative and so many other important tools, we are driving a better industry, and we need your help. We are aiming to raise £5,000 to fund our 2020 campaign – empowering citizens and brands to do some good for the fashion industry this Black Friday weekend, instead of participating in consumption for consumption’s sake.
