Farmer Tom needs excess skin removal surgery

In 2012 I hit rock bottom at 525lbs. That’s when I decided I wanted to change my life. At that point I didn’t want surgery. I also set a goal at that point of 250lbs. So I started making little changes. One or two things at a time. Worked on those until they became a normal habit then I would pick something else and repeat the process. Kept this up until 2016. I did lose some weight. I got down to about 480 at that point. I then had done a bunch of research into surgery and decided to have the conversation with my primary care dr. She sent the referrals for my wife and I to 2 different surgeons. Each one has its own wait list. She got her call summer 2018. So I followed along the process with her. My call came in April 2019 to start for myself. So the day she signed her consent papers I had my first appointment. At that point I was down to 463lbs. My wife had her surgery on May 30 and I had my second appointment that day as well. Fast forward to oct 24 is when I started my pre op liquid diet. I was down to 443lbs. Surgery was November 14/19 at 416lbs. From surgery til 6 months out I lost an average of 20lbs per month, then it slowed down in month 7 and I only lost 10lbs. Right now I’m sitting at 247lbs down 169lbs since surgery, 278lbs total from my heaviest. Still shrinking thou. I’m hoping to shed that last 47lbs. Likely skin removal will be some of that weight. Would I do it again. Hell yes but knowing what I know now, I would of asked to be referred right away. But in saying that, knowing even younger I would of worked to never gain the weight. So now I need to focus on skin removal. Which is not cheap. There’s a good chance I can get some basic stuff covered my Medicare but still know it will be expensive for the rest. Getting it all fixed would change my life even more again following my wls. Losing the weight alone has made life so much easier but having the loose skin fixed would just make my journey complete.
