Farmacy Relief Fund

Donation protected
We have tried everything to avoid this, but after months of shutdowns The Farmacy has come to a difficult crossroads. The loss of revenue over the course of the pandemic has been staggering. We have exhausted the available Covid relief funding, maxed out our personal credit cards, skipped tax payments, and taken title loans on our car at 150% interest to keep our employees paid, and our doors open. But the resources have finally run out.

Today we have received even more disheartening news: one of our employees has tested positive for COVID. With our staff being reduced to a skeleton crew, this means that none of them can come back to work for at least 14 days. We have no choice but to close our doors until we can safely reopen under the Rapid Response guidelines set forth by the city of Albuquerque.

But reopening is looking bleak. With the November dine-in shutdown, and the new mandate limiting seating to patio dining only, and the cold weather setting in, our revenue has dropped even further. On a day that would typically see $1500 to $2000 in sales, we are now seeing just $300-$400, not nearly enough to cover rent, bills, payroll, cost of goods, etc. It’s always one step forward and two steps back with this pandemic.

To say that it has been a roller coaster ride trying to adapt to COVID would be a colossal understatement, and we sympathize with every restaurant owner for having to make the Hurculean efforts necessary to keep their doors open. We have bought supplies one week only to be shut down the next, standing by helplessly as all those perishable goods go to waste. We have had to lay off employees for a shutdown, hire them back for a reopening, only to lay them off again when capacity gets reduced to a level such that we can’t possibly afford to keep them on anymore. But we have always taken it with our chins up and erred on the side of science, doing everything we can to keep our customers and staff as safe as possible.

Mary and I have been humbled beyond belief by the support of our customers and the community at large that have come to our aid and spent their hard earned dollars within our doors. It is not easy asking for help. It is not easy knowing that we just don’t have the resources left to make it through much more of the winter, and now we can not even open for business.

We realize that not only is it a tough time of year, but it has been the toughest year for many people. With this in mind, any and all donations will be treated respectfully and will be used solely for payroll, rent, utilities, and operating costs.

We really want to make it through this winter and have you all on the patio again come springtime. We want to uphold the standards that you have come to expect from The Farmacy, and we want to give back to you for giving so much to us.

Thank you for your support,

Jacob and Mary, and all of us at The Farmacy
