Farewell to Charlie

Funds are needed to defray the cost of Charlie's funeral,  please help out if you can.  Charlie went above and beyond to help anyone in need.  Due to the sudden death of Charlie we need to step up and help out.

These words from Charlie's brother show how caring he was when he was with us.

Hello everyone, this is Bob Truax, using my brother's account as I do not have one and wanted to pass a note on to all of his friends who are on Facebook.

I just wanted to let everyone know how special my brother Charles was. He was always willing to give you the shirt off his back. I was number 6 of 7 children. He was the first born and acted like a first born.

If it wasn't for him, I don't think I would've become the person that I am. He was absent in my life from 197...6-1980 as he was in the military full time. He came back during my sophomore year in high school. He went to all of my football games and picked me up everyday after football practice, track practice, and sessions in the weight room. He encouraged me to continue to be a student-athlete and for this I am forever grateful.

I was fortunate enough to go to Massachusetts Maritime Academy and played football there. He came to my games on the Cape with my parents. He was always there for me through thick and thin. His camera at his side, he took many pictures of me playing football.

Whenever a new video, dvd, cd, or video game came out that he thought I was interested in, he bought it and gave it to me. He never accepted any money, he simply wanted to make other people happy.

He was one of the most giving people that I can think of. We were in the 756th Engineer Company together and when they found out I was his brother, they couldn't believe the stark difference between us. I simply stated "I am not Charlie, I don't give a fuck either." In retrospect, I wish I was a lot more like my brother as he took in people from all over the place.

People who drilled at Fort Devens and who lived far away ended up at our house for dinner and a place to rest. He constantly helped out anyone that needed help in our unit.

If a stranded motorist was on the highway, he would be the first to stop. I often wondered why he would do this but it was second nature to him. I could continue for hours about what he did for me. I think he was particularly proud of the fact that I was fortunate to graduate from College and go on to get my Master's but none of this would have been possible without the love and support of my brother Charles.

The world has lost one of the most giving persons I have ever known. I love you Charles, rest in peace and know how many lives you have touched.

Your loving brother,

Bob
