My dear friends, whom one is a devoted teacher in the Mason school district, they are a very loving family and are facing a horrific battle with their almost 4yr old daughter, Lila.
Very unexpectedly Lila had been feeling sick as if she had the flu, throwing up for 8 days. Her parents had already taken her to see a doctor on two different occasions over the last seven days and they just thought she had some type of stomach bug. On the 8th day, when Lila was still not feeling any better, her parents took her back to the doctor for the third time and this time demanded more tests be done to see why she could still be sick after so many days had went bye. So, the doctor did send them to Sparrow for some more thorough testing. Well, their worst nightmare happened…they found a tumor on Lila’s brain.
The following day Lila underwent brain surgery to have the tumor removed. Although they successfully removed the tumor, they still had to send it out to be biopsied and checked for cancer. A few days later those results were in and unfortunately it was malignant. Even worse, those malignant cancer cells still remain in Lila. They diagnosed this as a malignant AstroBlastoma Tumor.
This type of tumor is so rare that there have been less than 30 cases of this on record in the United States since 1926. Since this is so rare, only three states in the United States offer the type of treatment that Lila needs, none of which are close to Michigan. Lila will need to leave very soon for one of these states for a minimum of six weeks to receive daily treatment.
No doubt Lila and her family are facing the fight of their life.
We are looking for any donations to help the family during this horrific time to help with any expenses related to Lila’s medical care, including travel expenses and any medical bills that may not be covered.
