My name is Juniper Cole-Taylor, and I am a Midwife. From the time I was two years old, and witnessed my first home births, I have wanted to be a part of this age-old profession of guarding the door into life, supporting and witnessing women in the authenticity of the moment of delivery, and facilitating the normal, physiological processes involved in bringing a baby into a family.
     The Midwifery Model of Care is characterized by patient-centered, evidence-based, compassionate and individualized care, supporting each family's desires and choices, providing thorough information regarding choices for their care, and offering comprehensive, continuous care throughout pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum period.
      In my home state of Washington, direct-entry (non-nurse) midwives can obtain licensure to attend births out of hospital, either at home or in free-standing birth centers, and many midwives enjoy busy practices.  
     I am asking for your support purchasing the first quarter of a liability (malpractice) insurance policy, which will enable me to enter into contracts with health insurance plans, creating access to my care for many women, including those on Medicaid.
