FAMILY ALWAYS COMES FIRST

Hello Friends,

I must confess that I never thought that creating a gofoundme would be this difficult.

How do I start?
It has been a secret for anyone that for me as Non European living in Ireland things have not been the easiest in my life. Visas, papers, jobs, no jobs, crazy jobs, no jobs at all, more visas etc... but I am greatful to this country for finding my other half (Jacek Kasprzyk) and amazing people around me.

What happened?
Ok... Everything started few weeks ago with my mom, she had surgery to remove her uterus and Doctors found some cancer cells. Surgery was a success, but now she needs to complete 6 weeks of radiation, starting on January 8th. My mom is already cancer survivor (2013/2014 Breast Cancer). So as you could imagine my sister and myself were thinking to go home and help, but our family kept telling us that it would not be necessary. All the focus was on my mom.

In Venezuela live my mom, my dad and my brother. On Christmas Eve, my sister calls home to wish everyone a good Christmas, she was talking to my mom and asked to talk to Arturo, my brother, he is 24 years old, born with Down Syndrome. [Arturo is a blessing, I think anyone who grew up with a special kid in their immediate family will agree with me. Special people makes us better humans. Arturo thought us unconditional love to a whole different level, understanding, no to judge others, help others, get excited for little things in life and many more. Arturo is Love and Life.] When my mom takes the phone to Arturo’s room, my sister only hears my mom screaming of agony and screaming to my dad “Argimiro call the ambulance, call the ambulance!” my dad rushed into the room, calling my brother “Arturo, Arturo!” my sister on the phone hearing all this without knowing what was happening. Few minutes later my mom picks up the phone again to tell my sister that she had just walked into a suicide attempt! :( She found Arturo on the floor under his favorite chair with a towel and a black plastic bag around his head. He had just tried to kill himself.  I could not believe it. Luckily my mom and dad were on time to stop him. This is the most heartbreaking thing my heart has ever felt, I was in shocked, I cried like a baby just picturing a bag over his head, picturing life without him, trying to understand in which moment my little brother started to think/feel so negatively and how any of us did not see it coming. We were so focus and worried about my mom that we did not pay too much attention to Arturo, to our surprise, Arturo was the one who needed attention.

What now?
Well, in a matter of minutes my priorities for 2018 fully changed. I went from wedding wishes, job wishes, holidays wishes, personal goals etc... to F... everything none of that matters anymore. With my heart full of sadness not only for my mom’s situation but specially for my brother’s actions I decided to go to Venezuela. [Last time I went home was 4 years ago!]

Why I am collecting?
Due to visas complications, I have not been able to find a stable job here in Ireland, which makes it really difficult to save any money. With my mom surgery, I have been sending money home to cover the cost. I am at least 3 planes and a full ocean away from home which is not a cheap ticket to get specially as last minute trip. I plan to be home at least 5 months, during this time I won’t be able to produce any money, my job in the next few months is to be my dad’s personal assistant, my mom’s nurse and most important my little brothers  confident and helper.

How much can you give?
However much you feel comfortable with, €5, €10, €20, €30, €40, €50... 1 million!?
Anything you can contribute with will be amazing! Every penny will help me and my family big time!

Would I be back in Ireland?

Of course, If things go well at home, I hope to be back around May.
