Help Church Camp Covid Victims

Help for the Uscategui Family and other families who contracted COVID Delta from a Church Camp for children near Dallas.

Hi, my name is Jeff Holmes myself and a group of us are raising money for Amber Uscategui's family, and the 30 other families impacted by COVID-19 during an event at a prominent church camp!

After barely surviving COVID in October, life was starting to get back to their new version of “normal”.  In July, Amber and her husband were beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to send the kids to their favorite church camp. They were ready for their kids to just disconnect and be children again after such a terrifying year. However, they had no idea that decision would end up once again endangering their lives along with the lives of so many others. Dealing with COVID has been a difficult for the family, Amber and her husband are both long haulers with compromised immune systems and a daughter with chronic lung disease.

After an amazing four days, and mature decisions her children received baptism along with 53 other children in the exact location. After they got home it took the church five days to inform them that all four of the children had been directly exposed to COVID including the variant known as Delta. They came home thinking they ate something wrong, that their throats hurt.  Their eldest son says " The counselors kept telling us it was from cheering." He also says 'he overheard the counselors complaining of similar physical aliments." Once home Amber realized that it wasn’t “bad gravy” or "hoarse throats." After a few days, she realized that something else was going on.  Amber says "when they finally called, five days later, I immediately had everyone tested. I knew something was off as I watched my babies get sicker and sicker."  Ignoring her and her husbands symptoms, she got the answer she feared.

Amber says, "my heart dropped. My kids were so excited." While crying, she continues, ". . . And my little guy was the first to test positive." for COVID Delta.

Due to vaccination age limitations, many children did not receive the vaccine before or after attending the event. Representatives of the Church say they followed State protocols. However, photos and video clips of the event show the children, counselors, and staff interacting without following any of the CDC's recommended protocols

Please help us raise $150,000 for the 30 known family's medical, and living expenses. The funds will be divided  by these families that have had their lives turned upside down.  Although the Uscategui family is struggling, it was their request to make this not only about their suffering. Therefore their personal request is that this Go Fund Me go to all the families including those who wish to remain anonymous.

The Uscategui family is always helpful, and they support many others in their community and around the world. Because that is just who they are. Let's help their family to recover and get them back to supporting and uplifting others. Thank you to all who have donated, and we will keep you updated. Dedicated to the families who fought, those who went home, and the people still fighting the war against COVID-19.
