Family Weekend - ED Recovery

*Leaning in on faith, vulnerability, and healing*

As many of you may already know, I recently checked into an inpatient residential treatment facility to take my life back from an eating disorder that has not only affected my life negatively, but also the lives of the people who love me the most.. especially my mom. Unfortunately this is also something my mom struggled with when she was my age and I desperately want to break the cycle of this terrible disorder in my family and be a catalyst for change not only for myself, my family and friends, but also the family I hope to have in the way future.

I’ve been staying at the Montecatini Eating Disorder Treatment Center housing in Carlsbad, CA (near San Diego) for a little over a week now and was just informed by the treatment team today that there will be a family support weekend coming up the weekend of January 12-14 (need to RSVP by Jan. 5) and my goal is to fly my mom out here to be a part of this recovery process with me. They will provide us with family support groups, therapy for my mom and I, education of eating disorders, and what the road to recovery looks like from the support system side of things in order to ensure my success to full recovery and relapse prevention. This is an amazing opportunity, not only for me to see my mom (I’m completely missing Christmas and NYE this year), but definitely for my mom for her to learn how to better support me through this season in my life and for years to come!

As many of you also know, my mom is my everything, my rock, and #1 cheerleader in my life. This not only gives us an opportunity to overcome this disorder, but aide us growing closer and changing our lives forever.

My mom is the hardest working person I know, works 3 jobs, but is still overwhelmed by medical bills post-breast cancer. Any contribution to this opportunity would mean everything to me, my mom, and the rest of my family. My family has raised me to be a nurturer, giver, and provider to those in need.. and I want to continue to keep that a common trend in my life but know now that I can’t help anyone in this world in the ways I want to if I’m not first nurturing myself. My money is also personally tied to pay for me being a patient in this house also right now.

I know this is very last minute and money is probably very tight for most families around the holiday season; any amount of support would be eternally appreciated and will change our lives for positive change that I feel we both desperately need right now. We will just need money for the plane ticket, hotel, and dinner (breakfast and lunch will be provided for her.. my meals are obviously strictly regimented already).

Thank you so much in advance to those willing to support us in this time in our lives. I’ve never been very good at asking for or receiving help from others; but in faith, bravery, and vulnerability ask for help so that we can better ourselves and continue to be a blessing to others always.

Please feel free to share, contribute any amount you’re comfortable with, and also pray/send positive vibes in this challenging time for us.

Thank you emensely, Merry Christmas, and much love and blessings to all!
