Hello, my name is Sophia Rodriguez, and I am fundraising for my mother, Miryam Merchan. My mother, who is an immigrant, has been raising my little brother and I since 2010, when our father passed away. On October 14, at around 11 P.M, our vehicle that was parked outside of our home unexpectedly caught fire. The fire then spread onto our house, and neighbors alerted the fire department. By the time the fire department came, the fire had already caused significant damage. By the time it took to extingush the fire, most of our belongings had perished, both our vehicles were also lost in the fire. Now without any transportation, any shelter above our heads and being a part of a low-income family with a single parent we are asking to please help by donating anything you can. My mother worked many years to raise both of her children by herself, who are currently both college students and provided a shelter over their heads and now without any shelter, any transportation, and certain essentials we are asking for anything that can help us rebuild our home and get our family back on track so my mother and us can have a place to live.
