<div>My brother was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer in late 2023 and since then has been receiving radiation and cancer drug treatments.

<div>In addition to the cancer diagnosis, about a year and a half ago, he developed a limp that has worsened and now affects his mobility. He is able to go short distances with a cane, otherwise, he needs a walker or wheelchair. The doctors found markers in his blood and spinal fluid indicating autoimmune disease, likely cancer/treatment triggered, but the specific autoimmune disease has not yet been diagnosed. In April he was admitted to the hospital for three weeks while they assessed his legs and other health issues.

<div>He had to leave his employment in February 2025 due to his illness and is unable to work. He is awaiting approval of a disability claim filed with his employer's insurance and an appeal with Social Security. He has a wife and five dependents at home, however, he currently has no income. He expects to get benefits, but is not sure if and when he will be approved. His prognosis is still undetermined, but his body will never be whole again. He is supported by wonderful family and friends.
