Thank you for taking the time to read Cliff and Lisa Williams story. Cliff and I found our way back to each other after many years apart, and we remarried almost 5 years ago now. We realized how much our love for each other actually was and still is after all this time; and we now know why God brought us back together when he did. Last year on Mother’s Day 2019, Cliff’s back just all of a sudden went out on him and he was in the worst pain that he had ever experienced in his life. We were able to get to the ER, and they ran tests and came back and told us that Cliff has cancer, and that his spine is fractured from a tumor. They admitted him for 5 days, and this starts our journey of trying to find ways to fight his Stage 4 Metastasis Prostate Cancer. (Doctors do not start doing PSA tests on men until they are 50, and they told Cliff that he has had this cancer for 10 to 15 years, due to being a slow moving cancer). Cliff went through Radiation first and then 6 terrible sessions of Chemotherapy – which #6 almost killed him.  Last December, Cliff received his last session of Chemo and was never told his doctor that after the #5 chemo session that the cancer had become aggressive and the cancer was becoming worse. Cliff was hospitalized October, November, December 2019 and January 2020, for cancer related issues. I, at this point was done seeing the love of my life enduring so much pain and discomfort fighting for his life that we ended up going to another doctor, which they started over with everything to make sure that everything was covered and that’s when maintenance drugs came into play. The first drug lasted 4 months until it stopped working but, for those 4 months, he was doing great, life was good. Then in August 2020, his PSA jumped up high and he was experiencing new pains and he knew that the cancer was spreading. There were bone scans done and it came back that Cliff was correct that the cancer had spread. Cliff now has cancer in all his bones, however no organs, which we are very grateful for. But, bone cancer is known for having the worst pain ever. The pain had become so great that after only 3 weeks of starting a new medicine in September, he stopped taking it, and the pain was getting worse. We then made the decision to go onto Hospice to get the pain under control. Since the start of hospice, the pain is for the most part under control, however; there is break through pain, along with already having neuropathy in both feet and legs and has a hard time walking and has been falling more frequently. We are asking for your help in being able to provide Cliff with Home care as he is not able to be home alone and so that I am able to keep working and being able to keep his insurance going for him. I am gone 12 hours a day, and family has done what they can with helping but, they have their lives and families to take care of too. Along with Home Care, we received an estimate for a ramp to be built and they said 10k due to the layout of our home, so we are not able to have a ramp built, another option is for a chair lift, and we were told that it would be 4k to 6k for that as well…  We do not have Medicare that would pay for some of the things needed, and home care is private pay – no insurance coverage (We have BCBS), we are not even able to afford a walk in shower for Cliff.  The only option right now is that I will have to stay home and be on FMLA starting next week, which is actually “leave without pay”, on top of that, being afraid of losing my insurance too. (Our youngest daughter has been with him all week, but she leaves to go back home – out of state this weekend). I have already used up all my vacation time for this year. We are seeking “Quality over Quantity” and our family along with many others out there, will not put our family into facilities to have them die alone. We want to keep him home where he is comfortable with his surroundings and with his family. Thank you for reading this far. We really appreciate any help.  Cliff is only 55, and we thought we were going to have our whole life ahead of us, and we were excited about retirement coming.
