Family Caregiver Relief Fund

Caring for a family member can be an overwhelming experience during the best of times. According to our family caregiver stress survey, those who care for a family member rate their stress as 4.14 on a sale of 1 to 5, which 5 being the most stressed.

And that was before our pandemic.

During times of uncertainty, the experience can becomes that much more stressful. Family caregivers worry about protecting their frail and vulnerable carees, about staying well so they can continue to care and doing everyone possible to prevent another kind of medical decline that could cause a hospitalization.

We also know that caring for a family member takes a financial toll. According to a 2019 study by AARP, family caregivers spent an average of nearly $7,000 a year of their own money — more than $7,400 in 2019 dollars. The financial pressures intensify during job loss.

We want to help those who care for a family member who may be struggling to make ends meet. 

Our goal is to help 200 family caregivers with cash grants of $500.

About Denise, Our Fundraising Organizer
Denise began raising money to help family caregivers in 2011 through a project she created called CareGifters, the inspiration for today’s Family Caregiver Relief Fund. With the funds raised, Denise sent $500 to a family caregiver to help them meet a pressing needs. CareGifters recipients used the money to buy food, pay for medical expenses and cover rent.
