Hi! My name is Elisha and I am a wife of 13 years and a mom to an 9 year old little girl whom we adopted through foster care. I am also the author behind the nationally known blog, "Waiting for Baby Bird." My husband and I have been going through 8 years of infertility with one miscarriage. Needless to say, we know the pain, heartache, and devastation it can bring and chances are you know someone who is also going through this same dream shattering and life altering experience.
In fact, 1 in 8 couples struggle with infertility and 1 in 4 have endured a pregnancy loss.
This could be your sister, a cousin, best friend, co-worker, or the woman sitting next to you in church. The pain that comes with such heartache can only be felt and explained by her...the one who walks around with broken dreams and shattered hopes.
My goal in raising $10,000 is to be able to GIFT one couple within the infertility community the opportunity to seek medical treatment to build their family, or other natural/holistic methods, as well as to use it for adoption; whether domestic, international, private, or embryo. I don't believe finances should ever stand in the way of someone who is wanting to love a child of their own.
This idea to give someone $10,000 simply came from my desire to do some sort of big GIFTaway when the online support group reached 10,000 members (we currently have 9,137). Immediately I thought about how awesome it would be to gift one couple with $10,000 to help build their family; however, immediately after having this superb idea the weight of how impossible this would be to raise such a large amount of money popped my "awesome idea" balloon. That is until God reminded me to ask Him...after all, I believe that if He put this idea on my heart then it must be on His heart too. And if it's on His heart then He will help me fulfill it, perhaps fulfill it through you.
So, will you help me reach $10,000?
Will you help me put a child in the arms of someone who longs to hear tiny pitter patters of little feet come running down the hallway?
Will you help me make the dreams that were birthed inside the heart of a woman when she was just a little girl come to reality?
Will you help me dry the tears of a couple who long to be parents?
