Families effected in the Hamilton Blvd. accident

Donation protected
The accident on Hamilton Blvd., in Whitehorse, early Monday morning, claimed the lives of two of our young people and has injured others. Unfortunately, these families have very recently put other family members to rest. This is an extraordinary situation. Therefore, I am appealing to the larger community for financial assistance. These families have drained their financial resources and have to arrange other funeral services now.The Yukon community and others that this is a time for us to come together and support one another and hold one another up. Traditional and clinical counsellors are available at the Nàkwät’à Kų̀ Potlatch House and the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre in Whitehorse, Yukon if anyone needs help. Below is information about myself for introduction.

Please be safe and take care.

1.    Who you are and where you’re from: My name is Brandy Tizya, I am from Old Crow. I am council member for Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation. When hearing the news of the accident my heart dropped and felt the effected families pain. We need to come together during this difficult time.

2.    Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for:I recently move away from Watson Lake so I knew Faith Jekesta, she was very bright and adventurous. I have met Stallion when he was a little boy and my god mother Joanne Charlie calls him grandson. Jay Charlie is my cousin through Bella Tizya, he is very adventurous, outgoing. He is in the Vancouver Hospital recovering from his injuries.

3.    How the funds will be spent: This fundraising campaign will go towards funeral expenses for the two youth that lost their lives. Both families of Faith and Stallion have lost other members within the past month, they are financially drained, desperate need of help, support and assistance. Chief Doris Bill have sent messages on behalf of the families. So i took it upon myself to help in anyway i can, Our Yukon Communities are amazing and i know we will all help in some way with support etc. As Jay is in the Vancouver Hospital, I plan to help with his expenses as well making sure everyone who was involved is covered.

4.    Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiaries: I plan to divide in three ways to help with funeral and hospital expenses, I wanted to make money orders and give them to the family matriarch through banking options for the matriarch can decide where the funds needs to go from there on.
