<div>Hallo zusammen, ich heisse Debora und bin als Kind sieben Jahre in Afrika aufgewachsen. Meine Eltern sind seit Februar 2022 von der Schweiz wieder zurück nach Tansania gezogen. Zurück heisst genauer gesagt nach Shirati, eine Siedlung am Ostufer des Victoriasees, etwa 15 Kilometer südlich der Grenze zu Kenia.

<div>Diesen Sommer haben mein Mann und ich sie besucht und dabei viele Bekannte aus meiner Kindheit wieder getroffen.
</div>
<div>Aber nun möchte ich euch gerne die Geschichte von Amos (meinem «Bruder») erzählen und wie es zu diesem Projekt gekommen ist.

<div>Amos ist im Jahr 1989 zur Welt gekommen. Noch vor seiner Geburt ist sein Vater durch einen Autounfall und seine Mutter während seiner Geburt gestorben. Nach der Geburt hat seine Grossmutter für ihn gesorgt.
</div>
<div>Doch mit acht Jahren (1997) wurde Amos krank. Das Problem war sein rechtes Bein, welches ihm grosse Schmerzen bereitete. Seine Grossmutter brachte ihn für seine dringend benötigten Behandlungen ins Spital. Nach vier Operationen und anderen Behandlungen war die Rechnung so hoch, dass sie es sich nicht mehr leisten konnten.

<div>Da Amos jedoch weiter auf Behandlungen angewiesen war, wurde er auf die Lepra-Station des Spitals verlegt, um die Kosten zu senken. Als er neun Jahre alt war, ist auch seine Grossmutter gestorben und Amos hatte keine Verwandten mehr, die sich um ihn kümmerten. Glücklicherweise konnte er weiterhin auf der Lepra-Station des Krankenhauses aufwachsen. Dort blieb er für weitere fünf Jahre und ging auch von dort aus zur Schule.

<div>Als meine Familie im Jahr 2000 auf Shirati kam, ging es Amos nicht gut. Seine Wunde am Bein war entzündet und er war total abgemagert. Man sagte: Er wird bald sterben. Dies hat meine Eltern bewegt und sie haben angefangen sich um ihn zu kümmern und ihn in seiner Ausbildung zu unterstützen. So wurde Amos ein Teil unserer Familie.

<div>Nun hat Amos ein Bachelor-Diplom in Buchhaltung und kümmert sich als Finanzchef um alle Spitalfinanzen. Zudem konnte er eine Familie gründen. Obwohl man ihm sagte, dass er aufgrund seiner Krankheitsgeschichte keine Kinder bekommen könne, hat er nun 3 leibliche Kinder und 1 Pflegekind. Ausserdem wohnen meine Eltern, seit sie wieder zurück in Afrika sind, mit ihm und seiner Familie zusammen auf einem Grundstück.

<div><strong>Nun zu dem Projekt:</strong> Da Amos selbst ein Waisenkind war und ihm geholfen wurde, ist es ihm ein riesiges Anliegen, diese Hilfe auch anderen Kindern anzubieten. So hat Amos ein Projekt gestartet, welches Menschen mit Behinderung, Strassenkindern und anderen hilfsbedürftigen Menschen unterstützen soll. Er hat viele Gedanken darüber gemacht, wie er diesen Menschen auf nachhaltige Weise helfen und ihnen die Möglichkeit bieten kann, in einer Familie zu leben.

<div><strong>Das Ziel dieses Projekts</strong> besteht darin, Waisenkinder gemeinsam mit anderen einsamen Menschen in sogenannten "Familienhäusern" zusammenzuführen und dort unterzubringen. Die Absicht ist, dass sich daraus ein nachhaltiges Projekt etabliert, bei dem jede Familie ihre Eigenversorgung durch landwirtschaftliche Anbauflächen und Tierhaltung sicherstellen kann.

<div>Um dieses Vorhaben in die Tat umzusetzen, hat Amos bereits ein grosses Stück Land erworben, auf dem mehrere dieser "Familienhäuser" errichtet werden können. Um von Beginn an eine nachhaltige Selbstversorgung zu gewährleisten, hat er zudem verschiedene Pflanzen und Bäume angepflanzt, darunter Mais, Bananenbäume, Orangenbäume und weiteres. Darüber hinaus hat er für die Tierhaltung bereits Ziegen, Hühner und Kühe beschafft.

<div><strong>Für den Bau des ersten Familienhauses sind wir nun auf deine Hilfe angewiesen.</strong> Das Fundament vom Haus wurde bereits gelegt und wir sind entschlossen den Bau so schnell wie möglich voranzutreiben. Wir glauben fest daran, dass wir nicht warten dürfen, bis wir den gesamten Zielbetrag erreicht haben. Jede Spende, die wir erhalten, kann sofort für den Bau und die Ausstattung der Familienhäuser verwendet werden.

<div><em>Hi, my name is Debora and I grew up in Africa for seven years as a child. My parents moved back from Switzerland to Tanzania in February 2022. Back means more precisely to Shirati, a town on the eastern side of Lake Victoria, about 15 kilometers south of the border to Kenya.</em>
</div>
<div><em>This summer my husband and I visited them and met many acquaintances from my childhood.</em>
</div>
<div><em>But now I would like to tell you the story of Amos (my "brother") and how this project came about.</em>

</div>
<div><em>Amos was born in 1989. Even before his birth, his father died in a car accident and his mother died during his birth. After his birth, his grandmother took care of him. </em>
</div>
<div><em>But at the age of eight (1997) Amos became ill. The problem was his right leg, which caused him great pain. His grandmother took him to the hospital for his much needed treatments. After four surgeries and other treatments, the bill was so high that they could no longer afford it. </em>
</div>
<div><em>However, since Amos continued to need treatments, he was transferred to the hospital's leprosy ward to reduce costs. When he was nine years old, his grandmother also died and Amos no longer had relatives to care for him. Fortunately, he was able to continue growing up in the hospital's leprosy ward. He stayed there for another five years and also went to school from there.</em>

<div><em>When my family came to Shirati in 2000, Amos was not well. His leg wound was infected and he was totally emaciated. They said: he will die soon. </em>
</div>
<div><em>This moved my parents and they started to take care of him and support him in his education. So Amos became a part of our family. </em>

<div><em>Now Amos has a bachelor's degree in accounting and takes care of all hospital finances as chief financial officer. He has also been able to start a family. </em>Although he was told he could not have children due to his medical history, he now has 3 biological children and 1 foster child<em>. Furthermore, since they are back in Africa, my parents live together with him and his family on a plot of land.</em>

<div><strong><em>Now to the project:</em></strong><em> Since Amos himself was an orphan and was helped, it is a huge concern for him to offer this help to other children. So Amos started a project to help people with disabilities, street children and other people in need. He has put a lot of thought into how he can help these people in a sustainable way and offer them the opportunity to live in a family.</em>

<div><strong><em>The goal of this project</em></strong><em> is to bring orphans together with other lonely people and place them in so-called "family houses". The intention is that a sustainable project will be established from this, where each family can ensure its own supply through agricultural cultivation and animal husbandry.</em>
</div>

<div><em>To make this project a reality, Amos has already purchased a large piece of land on which several of these "family houses" can be built. In order to ensure sustainable self-sufficiency right from the start, he has also planted various plants and trees, including corn, banana trees, orange trees and more. In addition, he has already procured goats, chickens and cows for animal husbandry.</em>
