On the early morning of May 16th, our family received the tragic news that our cousin Juan Valle and his family were involved in a horrific car accident. They were on their way to cross the U.S.-San Ysidro border when their car was suddenly crashed by a woman who was driving under the influence.
Our cousin’s vehicle burned in flames and his family suffered several casualties. Our cousin, Juan Valle, passed away during the fire; he was not able to get out of the car. His spouse, Rocio, suffered third-degree burns that covered more than 80% of her body. She was transferred to a hospital in Tijuana, Mexico. Unfortunately, she has passed away on the morning of 05/17/2021.
Juan’s three children were also involved in the car accident. The children ages fifteen, ten, and seven years old suffered serious burn injuries and were transferred to a hospital in San Diego. Our aunt, Margarita, and two more cousins were also inside the vehicle but suffered minor injuries.
The woman who was driving while being intoxicated left the accident unharmed. She is being held at a detention center in Tijuana, Mexico, and is trying to persuade authorities to drop any charges against her.

En la madrugada del 16 de mayo mi familia recibió la trágica noticia de que nuestro primo Juan Valle y su familia fueron parte de un terrible accidente automovilístico. Mientras esperaban ingresar a la garita de San Ysidro, por medio de la vía rápida, su automóvil fue golpeado repentinamente por una mujer que conducía en estado de ebriedad.
El vehículo de nuestro primo se incendió y su familia sufrió varias pérdidas. Nuestro primo, Juan Valle, falleció durante el incendio; no pudo salir del coche en llamas. Su esposa, Rocío, sufrió quemaduras de tercer grado que cubrieron más del 80% de su cuerpo. Fue trasladada a un hospital en Tijuana, México. Desafortunadamente, falleció en la mañana del 17/05/2021.
Los tres hijos de Juan también estuvieron involucrados en el accidente automovilístico. Los niños de quince, diez y siete años sufrieron graves quemaduras y fueron trasladados a un hospital en San Diego. Nuestra tía, Margarita, y dos primos más también estaban dentro del vehículo, pero sufrieron heridas leves.
La mujer que conducía en estado de ebriedad salió ilesa del accidente. Está detenida en un centro de detención en Tijuana, México, y está tratando de persuadir a las autoridades para que retiren los cargos en su contra.
