Familia Cortes Affected by Maria
I started this gofundme campain to help my family get through the destruction. My name is Erika Estevez and I am the Daughter of Julia Cortes, whom lives in Gurabo, PR. As you may know, the entire island has recently been devestated by two category 5 hurricanes, Irma and Maria. Because of this, the entire island is without power and communication services. Without power the island is unable to pump and filter potable water. Without communication, no one is able to communicate to the outside world. All of the gasoline holding tanks are flooded and unable to support the few generators that are working. Back-to-back hurricanes have left Puerto Rico and my family devasted. More now than ever, it is up to us to help my family that is helpless.
What is needed:
Food, water, basic essentials, tools and materials to re-build the houses lost.
Estimated costs:
Minimum survival - $5,000 (food, water, basic essentials for a few months)
Survival - $10,000 (food, water, basic materials and few materials to start re-building houses)
I want to help as much as possible and I feel it is too big of an undertaking to take this on alone. I am looking to my friends, family, colleagues, and anyone else for support. If everyone that this reaches gives up a starbucks coffee, or a night out for drinks, the contribution will go a long way to helping my family get back on their feet.
The plan is to purchase batteries, lights, water filters, solar lights from Amazon- to purchase appliances and materials from Home Depot and food from Costco.

I am the Daughter of Julia Cortes and niece/family of the Cortes Family affected by the Hurricane. The funds will be used and spent solely for purchases of building materials, lights, batteries, appliances lost due to water damage, food, etc. I am the beneficiary of this account and will withdrawl the funds in order to purchase the list of items needed and will ship them to Puerto Rico.
