Covington Vietnam Fallen Memorial

About a year and a half ago two veteran organizations came together. American Legion Post 203 and VFW Post 6095's goal is to move the current Vietnam Memorial located at Meinken Field to a property adjacent to Latonia Baptist Church in Latonia.

There are some issues with the current memorial (shown below), as it's simply a plaque attached to a rock, sitting on the ground.  The plaque itself is incorrect and the list of casualties is also not complete.  Finally, when Meinken Field is closed to the public, so is the memorial.

This photo below is a drawing of the new Vietnam Memorial.  Red pavers in the middle represent the blood trail.  On the right side, there will be granite monuments of the Armed Services.  The back side has the flag poles and lights.  The entire area will be landscaped with flower stands and shrubbery.  There will also be three granite benches placed around the area.  Most importantly, this memorial will be in an area that is accessible at all times.

We have finally come to completion on the design these brave men deserve. Today several groups have joined to help us accomplish this goal. We are proud to say the City of Covington, Covington Board of Education, Latonia Baptist Church, Latonia Business Association, Batson & Associates Architects, K&W Mechanical Inc., Northern Kentucky Monument, the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers and many other Covington businesses have come together to support and endorse this project.

Please join us as we begin our fundraising efforts to build this beautiful Vietnam Memorial that will enhance the City of Covington and bring a meaningful statement to our fallen heroes.  With your help, the names of Covington Vietnam Fallen will be visible for their families, friends, comrades, and the public.
