The Faith Ponds Farm Dream

Hi friends, my name is Latisha Barker of the Barker Family. I am a homeschooling, homemaking woman of faith and mother of 5 children.

What this campaign is about is that I’m asking for help with funding for our deposit to buy the farm, which we hope will be the birthplace of our family’s dreams. The property is a 16-acre farm located in Connecticut.

I know you may be thinking, that’s a huge goal, that’s impossible, but fear not. Believe in the power of GoFundMe, social media, determination and above all that God. Be amazed at how God can take your seed (big or small) and do something amazing with it.

Let me tell you our story- We are a family of 7. We are believers (In God, Jesus, Holy Spirit). We believe that love can change the world and that God is love. We want to do our part to make the world brighter and better.

Our family is made up of a mom, dad, a preteen girl (12) and four cool boys (8, 5, 4, 2). We are a group of musicians, artist, poets/writers, web designers, cooks, creative, resourceful, blessed and just plain old nice people.

Why this farm?

Because we believe God brought us to this farm (we’ve lived here for about eleven months), He positioned us here, and it is just right for our family and just right for our dreams.

What is the dream?

Well, first let me tell you what’s the farm’s name (if we obtain it). We will like to call it Faith Ponds Farm (the property has two big ponds on it and Faith is going to be at the center of everything that we do here).

We would like to raise animals (chickens, goats, etc.), grow food, do the typical farming things.

As well as birth a Farm-church ministry called “Faith, Family & Friends Fellowship Ministries” a Holy-spirit (flowing in the spirit of God within us) led ministry that focuses on, you guessed it-faith, family, friends and farming with God (love) at the center of that. We would like people to see God in us and on this farm, through our fruit-faith, hope, love, peace, joy, thankfulness, generosity, etc.

We want to help people live their best lives (thrive). We have many big ideas, and believe this farm is the birthplace of those big ideas. I know some people are reluctant about people with “big ideas” and think we may be just talkers. If only you knew, how many of our big ideas we have already done. We are not just talkers, but dreamers and doers who just needs our big break.

Here is a peek into some of those big ideas- Community events and meetings, we would like to host on Faith Ponds Farm- Breakfast Club (coming to eat and enjoy breakfast foods and entertainment), Lunch Club, Dinner Club, Concerts, Tag Sales Saturday/ Ice cream Events (during Summer), Book clubs, Wellness clubs, Poetry, art, homeschool support groups, kid’s clubs and so much more.
