Faith in the Vaccine Ambassadors Fundraiser
Mercer University's Faith in the Vaccine Ambassadors Program under the Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC) organizes and hosts various events about COVID-19 vaccination. We need donations for our upcoming COVID-19 Vaccine Town Hall and Vaccination Clinic on September 11th with OneMacon. These donations will help fund this event and others to make them more successful and effective.
About Faith in the Vaccine Ambassadors
IFYC has launched the Faith in the Vaccine Ambassadors project to respond to the nation's rising need to address vaccine hesitancy and increase access to COVID-19 vaccines. This program has enlisted over 2,000 students in 117 various colleges to plan and implement accessibility and trust-building projects in high-need communities with which they are connected over a period of six months. Our Mercer cohort aims to reach out to our local Macon community and provide resources to various vaccine-hesitant populations and ultimately positively impact people's health in our community.
Our Mercer Cohort's Involvement
Since beginning the program in June, our cohort has dived into various outreach methods to our community. We have participated in Bibb County School District's Radierfest with the Department of Health to distribute information regarding the vaccines and offer onsite vaccination. Our cohort also has ongoing Hispanic Vaccination clinics with Mercer Medicine to address the language barriers many members of the Hispanic population face within healthcare. Our next large event is the COVID-19 Vaccine Town Hall and Vaccination Clinic sponsored by OneMacon to address the African American community's concerns regarding the vaccine and provide easier access to the vaccine.
Other members in our cohort are planning to host a Hispanic Health Fair, create podcasts focused on different perspectives on the effects of COVID-19 and the vaccines, and produce videos and educational tools for reaching out to schools. Our cohort hopes that by reaching out through various platforms, we can have a stronger impact on our community. Any donation given to this cause will go towards these various projects.
