Ever since I was a little girl, I've had a great love for all animals, big and small.
As I've grown older, my love for animal's has only grown larger. For my school I need to complete a community project and I have chosen to raise money for the Fairview Lodge Animal Rescue.
Fairview Lodge Animal Rescue is a not for profit organisation located in Fairview Park South Australia.
They specialize in general farm animals, such as horses, goats, sheep/lambs, poultry and can assist with birds/injured birds. They also have a variety of cats and kittens (which are all up for adoption).
The horses they take in are generally recovered from steeplechasing accidents and abuse from their pervious owners.
I am proud to say I spend most weekends there volunteering with my sister, whether that be helping out with the animals or cleaning up around the place.
Kerri and her sister own, pay, and look after the lodge place together and love it when people come to volunteer and give a helping hand and also give donations, as they recieve no government funding and are paying for everything out of there own pockets.
Every dollar that is donated counts for something.
$5 buys 5 cans of cat food
$8 buys 1 small bale of hay
$12 buys 1 bag of pony pellets
$15 buys 1 horse pedicure
$50 feeds 1 large horse for a week
$70 buys 1 large round bale of hay ( 3-4 round bale's are used per week)
The more expensive costs are generally for the personal care of the animals themsleves and the equipment needed to care for them.
