Face Off Theatre Legal Support Fund
Face Off Theatre Company (FOTC) is an organization unlike any other in Kalamazoo: Led by Black women, bringing all voices to the conversation, generating new works, supporting artists by paying them, providing community education and outreach, and offering their programming at no cost.
Historically a program of the Black Arts and Cultural Center, FOTC must gain independent 501c3 status in order to continue to grow to sustainably continue to pay artists while keeping their programs accessible to all. Funds raised from this campaign will go toward the legal fees necessary to achieve those ends. Anything raised above and beyond legal costs go toward underwriting production in the coming year. Because FOTC does not yet have independent nonprofit status, donations toward this effort will not be tax-deductible.
Face Off is a vital company with so much to give our community, led by women who have given so much. Please help support their efforts to make this a more just and equitable community where every voice has a platform.

To create meaningful work that inspires and sparks change in our community and provide a safe space that develops and supports artists of color.
Vision Statement
Face Off Theatre Company aims to present audiences with fresh and innovative pieces of drama, as well as, classic works that are inspirational, entertaining, and thought provoking. We aim to create transcendent theatre art that explores the complexity and richness of the black experience and encourages cross cultural dialogue that illuminates and expands our understanding of the universal human experience. We will accomplish this by:
- Fostering an appreciation for the arts across racial, cultural, religious, and socioeconomic lines.
- Inspiring and helping communities to make theatre an active part of their lives.
- Providing opportunities for under served and minority populations to create theatrical experiences expressing their heart through devised work, staged readings, and workshops.
- Fortifying relationships through collaborations within the community that are innovative, effective, and mutually beneficial.
